When we are born, we inherit the Kidney Essence of our mother, and that of our father. Our parents’ essence joins to make a new person – us. So, the Kidneys in Chinese Medicine are the organ in the body that is mostly connected with DNA and reproductive function. Because the Kidneys are part of the Water element, they are also responsible for healthy fluid metabolism. Disease is sometimes caused when people have either too much or too little fluid, or the fluid they have is not being processed properly. Healthy Kidney Yin and Yang energy means we have flourishing reproductive systems and will live a long, healthy life.
